An excellent Library Resource Centre is available to provide for the students’ educational and recreational needs. The library plays a vital role in teaching and learning by providing:
• An extensive, up-to-date and constantly growing collection of resources to support the school curriculum and the interests of students
• Technology to support the development of skills in the use of information and communication technologies
• Assistance and expertise in the development of these skills
• Resource services to enhance teaching and learning in the school
• A stimulating and quiet environment in which students and teachers can work, read and learn
• Areas for independent, small and large group learning activities as well as a Senior study area.
The Library is normally open each morning before school from 8:15am, at lunchtime and after school till 3:15pm. Access to the library beyond these times should be arranged with the teacher-librarian, Ms Jan Stevens. The Library is fully computerised with students able to search the catalogue of resources via computer terminals and also boasts of a separate Computer Room designed to accomodate a class of 30 students.

Resources Available
There are a variety of resources available for use in the library, including:
• Non-fiction Books on all subjects arranged in number order on the shelves according to the Dewey system.
• Fiction books arranged in alphabetical order by the author’s surname.
• The Reference collection with encyclopaedias, dictionaries and atlases to support all subject areas.
• Magazines. The library subscribes to numerous magazines that provide current information. Current issues are displayed on the shelves in front of the reference books.
• Newspapers. The Sydney Morning Herald is bought each day. Issues for the current week are displayed with the current magazines. The Sydney Morning Herald for 1992 to 2004 can be accessed on the school’s computer network.
• The Vertical File contains pamphlet-type material on a wide range of subjects. A Literature Vertical File containing material to support the study of senior literary texts is on the mezzanine level of the library.
• Charts, sheet maps and posters are kept on the Hanging Picture File and the Flat Picture File near the Discussion Rooms.
• Careers resources providing information about careers, tertiary institutions and finding employment are shelved within the non-fiction collection and for seniors, on shelves on the mezzanine.
• Audiocassettes are kept in the drawers outside the Librarian’s Office. Some audiocassettes are also kept in the Audiovisual Room.
• Videocassettes, DVDs and Kits are on the compactus shelving in the Audiovisual Room. Students can ask the library staff for help in finding resources in this collection.
• CD-ROMs are held at the Circulation Desk. Students can request to use these CD-ROMs on the computers in the library.
