The community of Asquith Girls High School recgnizes that Student Welfare is the responsibilty of each member of the school.

Our Student Welfare objectives are as outlined in the three main focus areas of the Department of School Education Student Welfare Policy (1996) :

  • Community participation

Student Welfare underpins all of the teaching and learning programs and school decisions at Asquith Girls High School.

Asquith Girls High School expects that students will display the following qualities:

  • acceptance of consequences for inappropriate actions

  • self discipline
  • acceptable behaviour
  • self discipline
  • an ability to adapt to change

 The Student Welfare Policy ensures that the developmental, preventative and remedial aspects of Student Welfare are addressed in all school programs and services.

Student Welfare at Asquith Girls High School :

  • encompasses all activities which meet the personal, social and learning needs of students
  • creates a school environment which demonstrates care and ensures safety
  • creates a school climate which values and encourages risk-taking and independent thinking
  • incorporates effective discipline and has clear consequences
  • unecceptable behaviour clearly articulated for the whole school community
  • incorporates health and social skills programs
  • recognises the diversity within the school and provides programs and support which acknowledge difference and promote harmony
  • stresses the value of intervention and the early identification of problems
  • reconises the role the school plays as a resource link to families and / or community support services
  • provides opportunities for students to enjoy success and recognition; make a useful contribution to school life ; and derive enjoyment from their learning
