International Women’s Day Breakfast

Friday 6th March marked the sixth annual International Women’s Day Breakfast at Asquith Girls High School. The morning’s theme was “Women of Influence” and celebrated women who have inspired and encouraged young females, both within Asquith Girls High School and outside our school community. This student organised event is, annually, a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and appreciate those who have impacted our lives as women.

Student speakers Leearni Hemmings (year 7) and Alisha Quilty (year 8), along with guest speaker Mahboba Rawi ( Pictured) , the ambassador for charity ‘Mahboba’s Promise’, spoke in front of an overflowing school hall, about the women who have influenced them, and in addition how they have influenced other women.

Recognition Assembly - April 27, 2009, 12:57 pm

2009 Recognition Assembly

We recently celebrated the academic achievements of the Class of 2008 at a special recognition assembly. It was wonderful that so many Year 12 students returned for this event and shared their experiences with students. It is right and fitting that we should celebrate such excellence in academic achievement that will provide strong foundations for future learning.

Multicultural Day 2008

Asquith Girls High School kept the tradition of a Multicultural Assembly on Friday 28 th March. The variety of the performances represented the variety of cultures in the school and the wider Australian community.

The event was expertly compered by Kathryn Crawley and Zoe O’Rourke. The production was by Year 11 Entertainment under the guidance of Mrs Sekula, who as always gets the show on the road.

Guest speaker Mrs Yoshiko Adare gave an insightful account of the differences of life in Japan and Australia.

A highlight of the day was the fashion parade with students displaying traditional and modern fashions representing their family background. This year Australian costumes were included.

The final event of the day was a football (soccer) match between the teachers and the students.
